In my view, the facilities and service are closer to a 3-star hotel than a 5-star one. It doesn’t meet the standards I’d expect at five stars, so I wouldn’t book it if that’s the experience you’re after.

I had a generally good stay, with excellent cleanliness, ambience, and location. At breakfast, restaurant manager Siva and ground-floor staff member Christina gave excellent service. They brought tea or coffee quickly whenever I asked, and the turnaround was great. My main frustration was with front office executive Sameen. I needed a second chair for a crucial 30-minute meeting in my room with two business colleagues. Before I could explain it was only for a short time and I’d remove it afterward, she refused, saying, “No sir, policy is only one chair per room. We cannot provide a second one.” She went straight to policy without hearing me out. If she’d listened first and then explained the reason, that would have been better. Other staff on the floor were able to provide a spare chair easily, so I questioned how policy prevented it. Customer service should involve listening and understanding, and making an effort to help. This one staff member’s rigid response upset me and made the whole stay feel very bad. I raised it with the Front office Manager at checkout, who sincerely apologized. I hope management looks into it and trains front office staff to put the customer experience ahead of strict rule-following.

I spent seven nights here on a business trip to work at my company’s Chennai centre. There were good points, but the negatives weighed more heavily, especially the first one, and I’d avoid returning if I can. I also don’t think this should be called a 5-star hotel. Four stars seems more appropriate. The breakfast buffet was good, with a nice spread and daily changes, so there was enough variety even over several days. I tried dinner a couple of times and liked it as well. My room was generally clean, though one cushioned foot stool looked very worn. There was a decent set of amenities, including a bathroom weighing machine that was handy for tracking my weight, but one item didn’t work. The location is useful for nearby IT companies. Outside wasn’t neat, though that seemed largely due to urban sprawl and nearby construction. The air conditioning was the biggest problem. It made the room too cold, and I couldn’t find a way to set a warmer temperature. I reported it to the front desk and someone came to check, but nothing was fixed. I wanted to change rooms or hotels, but I was working more than 12-13 hours daily and didn’t have the energy or patience. Leaving also meant paperwork with my company and dealing with Turyaa over the cancellation penalty. So I kept wearing a jacket and woollen cap. I slept poorly and had temporary health issues from the cold. After long workdays, coming back to that cold, uncomfortable cave felt awful. A hotel room should be a refuge after a hard day. I was relieved when checkout finally came. The iron and ironing board were another issue. I plugged the iron into the required 16A socket and smoke started coming from the socket, so I stopped and complained. They said they’d fix it, but when I tried again the next day, it happened again. Refilling the drink sachets was inconsistent, too. Around 7:30 one morning there were no coffee sachets by the kettle. I need coffee soon after waking or I can get a headache. I called reception several times, but nobody came for more than 45 minutes, I think. I wasn’t ready to go down for breakfast, and after my other morning routine I even delayed my bath while waiting. Reception said ready-to-drink coffee would cost extra. I didn’t want the company paperwork for that. The sachets eventually arrived, but my headache was nearly starting. There were also mosquitoes, even on the 9th floor with the provided vaporizer switched on. I complained and they tried a few methods. From about the third day onward, I didn’t notice them.

We came to Turyaa for a company meeting, expecting a standard hotel stay, but it ended up feeling like home. Ms. Anagha warmly guided us from the start, then checked in with us again in person at checkout to ask how things had gone. We had a lovely conversation with her, which made the visit more memorable. Thanks to Anagha for her kindness and hospitality, and to the whole Turyaa team. We look forward to visiting again.

During my current 17-night stay at Turyaa Hotel Chennai, I’ve found it comfortable and generally pleasant. The rooms are good, the location works well, and staff are mostly polite and helpful. Its facilities and atmosphere suit both business visits and longer stays. There are a few things that could be better. Room upkeep could be a little stronger over an extended stay, and the lighting in the room could improve. The buffet also repeats the same items, so more variety would help. Vegetarian dessert choices are quite limited. I asked the chef, but there still weren’t many options, which disappointed me. It’s a good hotel with friendly service, and these small improvements could bring the experience up to five-star level.
