UPAR Hotels Nungambakkam

At Upar Hotels, Nungambakkam, check-in and checkout were smooth, and housekeeping kept everything neat and fresh. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Staff were polite, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. The location is close to major areas while still feeling peaceful. It was good value for money, and I’d choose this hotel again on my next visit to Chennai.

The food at the in-house restaurant was good and homely, with breakfast and dinner available. The rooms and bathroom were clean, and both the AC and TV worked well. The location is convenient, though there isn't much of a city view. It felt like good value for the money. My only real gripe was slow room service, especially when I asked for more coffee or tea, and there are no intercoms. I'd put the place at about 3.5 stars.

The complimentary breakfast was freshly made and delicious. The selection is limited, but enough. Usha and Bala at the front desk were courteous and professional, and service was generally prompt and nice. The hotel is in a peaceful setting, with spacious, fairly neat rooms. A few things need attention: maintenance in the corridors and on the doors, more clothes hangers and storage space, and the bed is very low and so soft it sinks, without good support. The AC and geyser worked. Fine for a few nights.

The location worked really well for my visa appointments, with both office locations nearby. I came to Chennai twice, first for biometrics and then a week later for the consular interview, and stayed here both times. Room 101 was bright, clean, fully equipped, and everything worked; the reception staff were welcoming and professional. Room 209 was still comfortable, though there was outside noise, the lighting seemed dimmer, and the toilet paper was damp from being placed near the shower, so I had to ask for a replacement. A couple of small things could improve the stay. Breakfast was ₹150 for a fairly basic spread, so it would be nice if it were included. A dental kit, especially toothpaste, would also be useful, as similar hotels commonly provide one. Otherwise, both visits were pleasant.
