Watching fishermen and houseboats on the lake gave us a lovely glimpse of local life, and the area around Shimpos felt interesting and welcoming. We spent nine days there at the end of February, and the lake setting was superb. The rooms were very good, the pool was clean, and they provided good quality towels. Every staff member, from management to the room cleaners, was cheerful and personable, and nothing seemed too much trouble. It felt like being welcomed into a wonderful Keralan family. The restaurant food was exceptional and the service delightful. If it’s your first visit to India, this would be a perfect place to begin.

The cottage rooms were lovely, and the view was exceptional. Staff were humble and polite. Getting there means going about half a kilometre off the main road, and the food is very costly. Still, the picturesque view makes you forget about those things once you arrive.

I felt safe travelling here on my own, and the staff were courteous and helpful. The food was amazing, and the manager, or possibly the owner, was very friendly. The resort is outside Allepey in a beautiful spot, with a pool, basketball court and gym. I couldn’t use the gym because carpentry work was happening during my visit. It’s a relaxing place, but quite far from town, so transport can be limited unless the resort arranges a Tuk Tuk or cab. I’ve stayed here twice and had a great time both visits. The rooms and swimming pool are well maintained, and the food is just awesome.

We came with our office group and really liked the place. Great views, plus a well kept pool, rooms and surroundings. The food deserves a mention too. There’s also a gym and badminton court, so it works really well for groups.
