Hotel Punarnava By OYO Rooms

The owner seemed like a good person and tried to sort things out, but the hotel is severely understaffed. It felt as though he was doing everything himself, and I had to keep going back and forth to reach him at the coffee shop downstairs. I was travelling alone during the Christmas peak season and booked expecting a decent stay because of the many reviews. There wasn’t a proper reception, just a bell boy, who happened to be on my floor. I was given a room without an ID check. There was no power when I entered; the card holder that was meant to control it was just for show, and someone switched it on from outside using a mains switch. The AC made noise but didn’t cool, and the toilet seat was broken. There was no towel, water bottle, soap, kettle, or other basic amenities. I had to shout to get the bell boy’s attention on another floor. He eventually brought a bottle of water, a very dirty kettle, a towel, and soap, things that should’ve been there already. He said the AC would be fixed in ten minutes, but I had to leave, so I handed over the key and asked them to fix it. When I came back, it was still the same. The owner didn’t even know about the card, and their attempts with the remote didn’t work. We ended up taping parts of the AC to reduce the noise. The owner offered another room, but it smelled bad, so I turned it down. He then suggested a table fan, which I accepted for some air, but it was even noisier than the AC. The breakfast was pathetic, with no options.

The staff were quick to respond and provide service, which I appreciated, even though there’s no one at the first-floor reception to call or speak to. The caretakers are downstairs by the cafe and restaurant. Parking was another drawback: there’s no designated space for hotel guests, so cars have to be left on the road, sometimes in the way of cafe customers. The rooms are spacious and well maintained, with AC, TV, and kettle, plus hot water 24/7. There’s a restaurant in the basement with decent food, though it’s expensive.

The hotel is quite a distance from the main city, and my room was very cramped, as was the bathroom and toilet. Room service was extremely poor, and there isn’t parking for even one car. Leaving the car on the bypass road is a big problem. My overall experience was disappointing.

The complimentary breakfast was quite tasty, and the rooms were hygienic. Chef Sangam deserves thanks for making such delicious food, and Mr.Ganesh always greets customers with a smile.
