Kukda Resort Chittorgarh

Whenever I visit Chittorgarh, Udaipur, and nearby places, I always stay at Kukda resort. The service and room cleanliness are great, the amenities are unbelievable, they’ll hold your luggage and get you what you need, and there’s great parking too. Best place, best view, best service, and affordable rates.

The rooms were clean, spacious, and well maintained. Still, the manager’s behavior spoiled the visit. We were there with family and two kids, and even after we clearly explained their ages, the manager bluntly questioned the children in front of us. It felt unnecessary and disrespectful. For a place calling itself a resort, basic things were missing: no kettle, tea or coffee sachets, or shampoo, only shower gel. Breakfast choices were very limited and tasted average. You can visit, but the manager’s manner and the lack of basic facilities need serious improvement before this feels family friendly.

We had dinner at the restaurant, which is in a separate dining hall. You have to leave the hotel through the main entrance and walk outside to get there, even if it’s raining. The food tasted good and was reasonably priced. The room was large, and they quickly brought extra bedding for our child, but some basics and design choices were disappointing. There was no electric kettle, and when we asked for one, they wouldn’t provide ready-mix tea or coffee, saying they don’t offer that service in rooms. The bathroom had no hooks for hanging clothes and no glass partition between wet and dry areas. Laminate on the wooden furniture, including the bed, left sharp edges. They should have used veneer. The room had two plastic chairs and a glass table, which felt substandard; at this price and in this category, there should at least be sofa chairs. Getting there was another issue. Kukda resort isn’t on the main road, but on an internal road that was dark when we arrived by train around 9 PM. It looks big from outside, as in the Google pictures, and has 64 rooms. We booked over the phone and asked for a late checkout because we’d arrive at 9 PM. The person on the call agreed, but when we arrived they asked for extra charges. It led to a short dispute, and the front desk guy didn’t try to resolve it or cooperate. Since it was late and we were travelling with kids, we had no other option but to take the room.

I didn’t travel because MakeMyTrip failed to communicate and follow up as promised, but they still refused a refund under their “non-refundable” policy. This wasn’t a voluntary cancellation. I never checked in, and the situation came from their own service failures, yet they took no responsibility. I booked a family stay through MakeMyTrip and contacted customer support within minutes to confirm the details. I explained that I was travelling with my wife and 2-year-old child, and said I’d only start the journey after clear confirmation from them. They explicitly promised an update within two hours, but it never came. The next day I was told the hotel had confirmed the booking at 9:00 AM, but MakeMyTrip never passed that information on to me. Because I had no confirmation, I didn’t travel. A supervisor later accepted that there was a problem, opened an escalation ticket, and assured me it would be resolved. Instead, I got a rude, dismissive call from someone who didn’t know the case. They said there was no escalation team, that they were only checking whether I had checked in, and then hung up when I asked more questions. It made the supposed escalation feel like a scripted routine, not a real attempt to fix the grievance. This was one of the most frustrating travel booking experiences I’ve had. Promises weren’t kept, confirmed details weren’t shared, and the support I got when there was a problem was meaningless. Families and other travellers should be extremely cautious if they expect clarity, accountability, or human support from MakeMyTrip. I’ll seriously reconsider using it in the future.
