Oyo 40876 Sri Kamadhenu Residency

For a budget hotel, Kamadenu Residency deserves 5 stars. The staff are friendly, the rooms stay clean, and towels and amenities are replaced daily. There’s free WiFi, satellite TV and parking, and it’s centrally located. I only wish the shower had hot water.

The room was neat and clean, the AC worked well, and breakfast was on time and tasty. The bathroom was average, but the hotel in-charge was a big help, giving us directions and some useful suggestions. They can arrange a car through local contacts at a reasonable price, and our driver was nice and decent. If someone visits Coimbatore often, they can ask the hotel to help arrange things they need. It also felt like a good, safe place for women guests. The staff were dedicated and responsible toward visitors. The owner may visit sometimes. The hotel is very close to Gandhipuram bus stand.

This is easy to reach from the bus stand and market, and it’s in a main location. But cleanliness was poor: the basin had stains, the floor hadn’t been mopped properly, and the bed, linen and toilet were not clean. I don’t even think they sanitize the hotel. If you aren’t concerned about health and cleanliness, you could choose it, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I booked and paid for a deluxe room through Oyo, yet they tried to give me a much smaller normal/classic room. Then, after Oyo confirmed the booking and payment, the hotel demanded extra money at check-in. That’s a serious concern and felt like an attempt to cheat guests. Oyo should remove this hotel if they want to protect their reputation.

They charged for a deluxe room but gave me a small one. The washroom wasn’t cleaned properly, either. The hotel itself was nice and the rooms were neat, and it’s close to the market. Getting there is awkward, though: it’s tucked down small lanes with no proper road, and cars can’t easily get through.
