Hotel Vivek

We meant to stay one day but ended up extending to two. The hotel was good, the staff cooperative, and the included breakfast was good in both quality and quantity. At night, though, we could hear the people next door clearly, and I knocked on their door twice to ask them to lower their voices. The cafe food was too costly for lunch or dinner, and the dinner we ordered came much too hot to eat properly, despite our request.

The view and ambience are lovely, and the rooms are good. Service can be a little slow. The attached restaurant sometimes serves food that isn't so good, but when I asked, they replaced my meal with a better one. A good place to stay overall.

The outside of the hotel looks great, with an awesome view over the tea plantation gardens, and the food is high quality. The rooms were good, but not cleaned properly. We could smell tea and cigarettes in both the bathroom and bedroom.

We paid ₹5000 per night and were disappointed. The rooms weren't well maintained, and blaming the Labour's Day weekend rush would be a lame excuse. There was a lump of sugar stuck inside the drinking glass. We booked two rooms and were promised balconies and views, but our windows faced a retaining wall about an arm length away. From the doors, all we saw were the corridors and the neighboring room doors. One room had an open, half-empty coffee sachet. There were only two milk powder sachets, and when we asked for another coffee sachet in the morning because the breakfast area wasn't open yet, they refused. When we called for room cleaning, the way things were handled was disappointing. I even wondered if the face towels were being used as foot wipes, since the fresh face towels, body towels, and towels for the bathroom door all came from the same bundle. We'd booked three nights but left after the second. The staff were friendly, though management could have done much better.
