Arcot Woodlands Hotel

The food tasted good, but the response was disappointing. I ate here two years ago and remember both the food and service being really good, so I came back expecting the same. That was my mistake.

It was good value for money during peak season in this area. Just avoid room 317, the lock was broken, and there were a few mosquitoes.

The room itself had a good ambience, and it was clean. Parking was available, too. But for a two-week stay, the outside noise from the road-facing rooms and the mosquitoes kept me from sleeping deeply. Some people said they hadn't been given an All-out / Mosquito killer on their first day. For a one-night stay, this might be okay if you don't mind paying about what you'd pay for a 3 star hotel. The WiFi barely reached inside the rooms, and didn't work outside. A couple of other guests asked about it too, but the receptionists were casual about it, and I eventually stopped following up. It seemed like staff hadn't checked whether it worked in months. When I revised this review a year later, I still heard the same complaints about mosquitoes, room service, and WiFi. Staff didn't all seem well trained. No one gave us clear information about breakfast. I later found out it was in a different restaurant in the next building on the same campus, and the food there wasn't very good. Complaints didn't seem to get taken seriously. In Cuddalore, I couldn't find a better place by comparison, so the options feel like staying here for one night or going to Pondy. Maybe it's better for just a day.

The location and parking were the only good parts. The rooms and toilets were dirty, and AC water had dripped along the corridor. The hotel management needs to take responsibility for maintaining the place.
