Oriental Hotel

The dorm at MLS Hotels was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the price suited my budget as a solo traveler. Staff were friendly and helpful too. While traveling through Uttarakhand, I found it a convenient place to stay in Dehradun. Its central location made it easy to reach transport and nearby markets, and explore the city. A good affordable option if you’re traveling alone.

The room was okay, and getting around from the location was convenient. But the owner’s greed really spoiled the stay. They tried to add fees beyond what we’d agreed on, so I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

After our 10-hour trip from Sankri, following the Kedarkanta Trek, all I wanted was a decent clean room and hot water. We hadn’t bathed for four days. Staff said both would be available, and the room looked good when I checked it. But there was no hot water when we went to bathe. We were told it only came in the morning. After arguing, they brought two buckets at noon. The hot water problem came back in the morning. The central system only gave lukewarm water. We were running late, so we managed to bathe somehow, and then waited an hour for one bucket of hot water after another argument. There was also conflicting information about the kitchen. A WhatsApp message said it was open until midnight, but when I called reception, they said it had closed at 11 pm. And although staff agreed at check-in that we could leave our bags in a cloakroom, at checkout they said there was no such facility. We had to leave our luggage by reception. I’d ask the staff and owner to be clear about what the hotel can actually provide. People are paying for a service, and this is a business, not charity. It should be run ethically.

Very rude people. This is the worst place to book, don’t visit.
