OYO Flagship 512 Deer Park

I came from Sikkim for a holiday in New Delhi and stayed six nights. Deer Park Villa was a great base, especially because Deer Park and District Parks, with their large green spaces and man-made lake, are only a five-minute walk away. The nearby tennis stadium and restaurants serving Indian, Mughlai and northeastern Indian food were handy too. I liked the Korean restaurant "Gung The Palace" in Green Park, 1.4 kms away, and also tried The CHINA KITCHEN at Hyatt Regency Hotel, less than 1.1 kms away, which serves Italian, Japanese and Chinese food. Ajay, the owner, was sincere and friendly. He checked that we were comfortable and was always reachable by phone for help or questions. Breakfast was good and filling: eggs and bread with butter and preserves, plus instant coffee, with an Indian breakfast option that could be a pleasant surprise. The house is in Safdarjang Enclave and has rooms on more than one floor. Mine had big windows opening onto a small balcony, so it felt bright and airy. There’s also a shared living room, and a huge tree across from the house adds to the setting. The bathroom was spacious and pleasant, and the white sheets and towels were nice. Since the place is new, it was almost spotless. I hope they can keep it up as it gets older. Although some reviews mentioned the location, I liked that it’s about 100 metres, or four lanes, in from the main road. That made it quiet and quaint at night. It’s a clean, functional, somewhat pretty B&B in south Delhi, and my stay was a good one. I’d recommend it for a Delhi trip.

The guest rooms can be on the small side, but the Guptas made sure we were comfortable and were very hospitable. Breakfast had a good spread, mostly vegetarian, with eggs available on request. You can also ask for lunch or dinner, and we had access to a washing machine, which was a big help. The homestay is in a quiet area with the market close enough for basic needs. We had a good stay.

I took a taxi to the hotel after booking a room, but couldn’t find it. There wasn’t a sign or board, or anything to show where it was.

The whole process went smoothly, from making the booking through to checkout. My room and washroom were clean, and both Ajay and Anurag, the caretaker, were great. Ajay was a lovely host, and Anurag was professional. I especially liked the packed breakfast he made so early in the morning.
