The Green Villa

The good points are the solid infrastructure, helpful staff who try their best, and a playground for kids. But cleanliness is a major problem: there was dust everywhere, the towels smelled too bad to use, and the bathroom locks were broken. Breakfast wasn’t ready on time, and there are no shops nearby. I regretted booking here. Maybe it’ll improve later, but as it is now, I can’t recommend it.

I had rashes and a sleepless night after paying Rs.3500.00 for a room that didn’t feel worth even the 600 to 800 I’d expect from a lodge. The linens were old and smelled awful, and there were bed bugs in the mattress. The room itself was old, with seepage patches and exposed wires. The photos showed a swimming pool, but there wasn’t one. The gates were locked, so it didn’t even feel like a hotel was operating inside. It’s a small place that seems to get only one or two room bookings. Breakfast was limited to aloo paratha, bread with jam, or bread omelette, with tea or coffee. I would have given zero stars if I could. Don’t trust the pictures; they’ll just say they’re old.

The garden and little pool made this a peaceful place for a family, even though it’s beside the highway. It’s a small villa, so it doesn’t get the same upkeep as a business hotel. My room wasn’t clean around the corners, but when I asked, they cleaned it quickly. I had one of the bigger rooms, with a verandah but no real view, and a nice coffee table setup. The uncle managing the place was sweet and cordial. Food is cooked fresh, so allow about 25 minutes after ordering. It tasted good, though the jeera alu, daal fry, mushroom masala, and dal makhani weren’t as authentic as they should be. Breakfast was a bigger letdown: you get just one choice, either aloo paratha, toast with jam or butter, or cornflakes. That’s all, despite paying extra for breakfast included. I’d paid in advance through a website, but they wouldn’t give me an invoice for the food, saying it was a bed and breakfast and any invoice would show rent rather than food. That felt unprofessional and wrong. Aerocity is the closest metro, and you can also go directly to mg road metro for Rs 250. The highways are long and have few places to make a U-turn if you miss one. I had to pay Ola 60-100 bucks each time to reach four points Sheraton right across the road, because the car had to loop around and come back. That’s not the hotel’s fault, just something to know.

The location is wonderful, and the clean pool works for both adults and kids. I loved spending free time here with my family, and room service was good too. I’ve enjoyed my stays here.
