The Umrao Butik-Hotel

This was our second time at the property, and the service standard has gone up. We held our Annual Sales Meeting here in early April, stayed one night, and used the conference room for the meeting. The rooms were spacious and clean, the buffet was generous, and the food tasted great. Big cheers to the chefs and staff, who were super polite, prompt, and attentive. We loved having our meeting at this beautiful property.

The pool view by the Spa is really nice. We had friendly, helpful service from everyone. Aarti and Shyam did a great job despite the limited time, and Rahul at the front desk was very good. This is a lovely place.

The Umrao has room to wander around the sprawling grounds, and the pool makes it easy to relax. The rooms are plush, the atmosphere feels palatial, and the food is stupendous. It’s a luxurious retreat on the Delhi-Gurugram highway, combining comfort with grandeur. A good spot for a wedding, family gathering, or weekend staycation. For Delhiites, it’s a refreshing break from the city rush without a long trip.

The hotel looks grand from outside, but the rooms feel old and damp. Mine was on the ground floor, had an antique-looking 2010-era TV instead of a Smart TV or large LED screen, and didn’t include breakfast. For that price, it wasn’t worth it. I’ve stayed at better hotels for much more competitive rates. Maybe wedding guests can get good room rates, but I wouldn’t recommend it to tourists or other travelers. The hotel is about 4.9 km from T1, T2, and T3, but the claim that it’s near Indra Gandhi International Airport doesn’t feel quite right. With heavy highway traffic, getting there can take at least 45 minutes, or about 25-30 minutes in normal Delhi traffic. It also feels overpriced because the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, right on a very busy national highway with no shops or restaurants around. They don’t let Swiggy or Zomato deliveries come in, while the room service menu is mediocre, like something from a 2-3 star hotel. That leaves guests dependent on their food, which seems designed to bring in more food and beverage revenue. They also have a strict no visitors after 7 pm rule. I think that’s too harsh if I want same-gender friends in my room. After 7, guests are expected to sit in the restaurant, and I’ve never come across such a mediocre policy at a four- or five-star hotel in India. I checked in with a positive mindset, but it was disappointing. I won’t stay again.
