OYO 15965 Hotel Nandi Gateway

I lost a weekend and a vacation here. Please stay away from this hotel and OYO. The room was dirty, with beer bottle stickers and vomit stains on the bed. Drinking water wasn’t clean, the TV didn’t work, and the telephone was out of order. The lifts were switched off early in the evening, apparently to save money. We got no service for three hours after asking, and the staff were rude. The hotel staff delayed the TV recharge, so he could save the money in case we didn’t get back to them. Since the phone didn’t work, I had to walk to the ground floor a couple of times before the property manager gave me his mobile number. I eventually contacted OYO customer care and spoke with at least 7 to 8 people over several hours. They didn’t resolve it or call back as promised. At checkout, the staff insisted we give a 5 star rating while saying sorry.

It’s cheap and fine for a short stay, with a complimentary breakfast that was okay. The facilities are really good, but they’re maintained awfully. Our blanket and towel weren’t fresh, the bathroom walls were dirty, and there was no soap or toothpaste. Waste was floating in the pool. The heater ran 24x7, so yeah, it was very cheap.

We went at around nine on a Monday morning, and the restaurant was completely empty. The dosa chutney seemed like it had come straight from the fridge with what was left over from the night before. The food wasn’t great, and I wasn’t even given a printed bill, just a handwritten one on a piece of paper. I’ll never come here again.

The location is a big plus for a Nandi hills trip. You can catch both sunset and sunrise, and staying here makes the trip less exhausting. It’s not that expensive, so it could make for a happy weekend away from the city. The hotel wasn’t well maintained, possibly because it’s mostly occupied on weekends. They were installing a geyser while I was there, so I guess you can expect that extra now.
