After checking out several places along this road in person, this one seemed like a fair balance of price and quality. Our ground-floor room cost 1200 rs. It was fairly spacious and decently maintained, though a little old-looking. The room and washroom were neat, and the sheets were fresh. Outside, there's plenty of room, with a garden and a swing.

The staff were so friendly that we quickly felt at home, and the rooms were clean and well maintained. Hot water ran from 7 AM to 10 AM, which suited us fine. We paid ₹1200 for a cozy stay in a peaceful setting, a real bargain. Our Kodaikanal trip was unforgettable, and we had a great time at Ganapathy Garden Homestay. Highly recommend it for a budget stay.

The room had a little mold, which could set off allergies along with the cold. The person at reception said water was available 24/7, but I couldn't work out how to get hot water in the bathroom. Otherwise, I had a good two-night stay in September 2024. I got the standard room, which was clean and big enough for two. No kettle or tea bags, though you can order room service, eat at nearby places, or get Swiggy delivery. It's close to the marketplace on a busy road, so there are plenty of food options and places to walk. The property also has a large grassy area to relax in, paved-path parking, and two staff members who were helpful enough. They left an extra pillow and blanket in the closet, and lock the main entrance at night for security. I'd recommend it.

That long message after booking, with around 20 detailed house rules, was a pretty off-putting first impression. The hot-water hours in the morning are also very limited, although they opened the valve in the evening when we asked. The house was well kept, our room was clean, and our one-night stay was comfortable with no problems. The staff were pleasant.

The room service was good and the rooms themselves were fine, but at roughly 2k for one night, not having reliable hot water in that area doesn't seem reasonable. Hot water is only available from 7-9 am, and you have to ask for it. In the evening, they'll give you just one bucket at 8 pm.
