Hyders Park - The Luxury Hotel

We booked two rooms for four nights and came away extremely disappointed. The photos are misleading: there’s only been basic refurbishing, and there’s no real luxury despite the hotel’s name. Service was very poor, partly because the place seems understaffed. Room cleaning staff also cook, which raised serious hygiene concerns for us. Staff behavior was unprofessional in most instances. Our rooms weren’t cleaned daily, even when we put the “clean my room” card outside. One room had a broken clock that was never fixed, and its calling bell didn’t work. Wi-Fi was unusable in the rooms, and mobile reception was almost nonexistent. Drinking water bottles weren’t refilled daily. When we asked for water, we were told to go to reception and fill it ourselves. We also had no towels for a whole day; despite following up, they arrived only the next morning, just before bathing time. The dining area for complimentary breakfast was very unhygienic. There were no spoons or tissues, and no proper cups or bowls for sambar and chutney, so guests were expected to eat with their hands. Lunch and dinner aren’t available. Guests are told to order from Swiggy or Zomato, and if you borrow plates from reception, you’re expected to wash and return them yourself. The TVs aren’t smart TVs, so there’s no YouTube or OTT apps, just local and free cable channels. I wouldn’t recommend staying here with family or if you want to relax. Expecting comfort, hygiene, or even basic hospitality will leave you disappointed.

The breakfast was very nice and well prepared, and the staff were hardworking, polite, and always willing to help. We had a comfortable stay at Hyderspark – The Luxury Hotel. It may be a 3-star hotel, but the service and cleanliness would earn it two extra stars from us. A pleasant, memorable stay, highly recommended.

I felt like I was staying on my own, not in a hotel. Housekeeping should be available around the clock. In winter, please offer heaters, even for an extra charge, and provide extra blankets when guests ask.

We put the “Make My Room” sign on the door, but nobody cleaned the room. When we asked, they said we should have told them verbally, and even after we asked again, they refused to clean it. We also asked for fresh towels several times. Each time, staff said they’d send them, but they never came. When we followed up, the reply was rude: they said the towels were still drying and that “this is Kodaikanal, it takes time.” The word “luxury” seems to describe only the hotel’s name, not its service. One of the worst hotel stays I’ve had.
