The Heritage Bungalow

The staff's care for older guests really stood out. My 75-year-old mother, who has diabetes and heart problems, stayed with us for three days, and they looked after her very nicely. Their hospitality and communication were amazing. We spent the vacation there as a family, and the Bangalow house was an excellent place to stay, with easy access to the lake and nearby shops. Our overall experience was excellent.

The room was at the far end of the compound, and getting to it meant walking along a badly messed up path. Inside, the hut didn't keep out the cold. It was covered with asbestos sheets and bamboo sticks, so the chill came straight through and it felt like sleeping outdoors under a blanket. The geyser took 30 minutes to heat, then the water went cold again after one small bucket. The kettle had no plug and was simply connected with two wires, which felt completely unsafe. There were no amenities, not even a campfire. The TV had no dish connection, only WiFi, but the WiFi didn't work either, and they told me to use my phone hotspot. It smelled bad, the unfinished floor was dirty, and itchy insects often came into the bathroom. I came for a peaceful one-day stay, so I didn't want to escalate these problems and spoil the trip. It was an unpleasant stay. In my opinion, the online photos seemed cooked up and were cheating customers.

The staff were good and tried to make things comfortable, but the rooms weren't well maintained, perhaps because there weren't enough staff. The place is very close to the lake and bear Shola falls, though it isn't very kid-friendly and there's very limited car parking. Prices get quite high in season, so I wouldn't book here then because it doesn't seem worth it.

The towels were wet, the blankets had rat bites, and the room was in a steel shed. The outdoor areas also looked neglected. The photos are very deceptive. Find somewhere else to stay and save your money.
