Hotel Mist Tree Mountain

We had room 502, which was spacious, bright, and had a great interior. The views are great when the weather allows. Plumbing was modern and clean, with hot water from a geyser available around the clock. The restaurant was among the best for price, quality, and quantity, though lunch wasn't available at all during our stay.

After a terrible booking at our previous hotel in Upper Sichey, we moved here for one night. This place was budget friendly despite offering the amenities of a moderately expensive hotel. It's about a 4-5 minute walk from MG road. The rooms were spacious and properly cleaned, with a breathtaking view of mighty Kanchenjunga from the window. Staff were polite and professional, and breakfast was a good buffet.

We'd booked two rooms for two couples for three days, but the Sikkim flood closed North Sikkim, so we cancelled our trip. We cancelled within the hotel's stated time limit and asked for our Rs 6000 advance back. Nearly 45 days later, the owner still hadn't refunded it. He either doesn't answer or promises to pay in two days and then doesn't. We've emailed many times and called the hotel around 40 times and the owner around 50 times, with no refund. Please don't book here. If your plans change, don't expect the owner to return your money.

Don't pay an advance to book directly with this hotel. They take the money, then stop answering calls when you ask to cancel and don't process the refund. They don't honor their refund policy and keep making excuses. After a couple of calls, they may stop picking up altogether because they don't want to return the money and take it through these fraudulent means.
