Hotel Sikkim Delight

The manager treated us kindly and offered us a jar of Gangtok’s spiciest chilli along with a stack of books. Everyone looked after us well, and the staff were attentive, polite, and pleasant. We had booked a super deluxe suite, but the management upgraded us to an executive room, which was a thoughtful gesture. We also enjoyed the meal and the lovely ambiance at Hotel Sikkim Delight.

I’ve been coming here regularly for five years, and they’ve always treated me well. It’s a friendly, homely place, and I know most of the staff personally. It’s a delight to be a regular. Not many hotels or lodges in Gangtok treat local guests well. Lately, they’ve also made a lot of improvements to cleanliness, especially bathroom hygiene.

The people are what made our vacation so happy. I’m not a native Hindi speaker and find it hard to talk to people in Hindi, but everyone was patient and made us comfortable. The staff, from the owner to the room boys, were humble and friendly, and the front-office manager was especially helpful and polite. Our room was clean and tidy, and although we’d booked a deluxe room, we were upgraded to a suite at Sikkim Delight.

I spent three days here and, when I asked, they arranged a big cake and a candlelight dinner for my parents’ anniversary. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, service was very fast, staff were friendly, the Wi-Fi was high speed, and the room had an awesome view. The food was okayish, though, and it’s away from M.G. Road and the market. A cab costs a flat Rs.200. The amenities included toilet soap, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, a shaving kit, dental kit, toilet slippers, hair dryer, geyser, electric kettle, soft tissues, tea and coffee pouches with milk powder, one 1 ltr mineral water bottle per day, and a TV with STB.
