Juniper Tree Hotel

The rooms were acceptable, and the service was pretty standard. Nothing stood out, good or bad. The location was inconvenient for what I needed, though.

The location is the only real draw here. If it weren't for being near MG Marg, I'd give this place one star, and it isn't worth even Rs 1000 a night. There are newer properties nearby that are better. I booked two rooms for my family, but on arrival they put us on different floors and didn't take our input into account. The bedsheets were stained and dirty, and there were bugs crawling on the bed. We couldn't sleep and had to ask them to clean it. The bathrooms weren't clean either, and management seemed uninterested in this property, perhaps focused on their newer places elsewhere. On the second day, I left two suitcases and checked into my room. The bags were moved somewhere outside reception, where anyone could come and go, and nobody knew why. Staff said they'd moved them for safekeeping because the room door was open. That seemed strange, since they were left unattended in a public area. I suspected something might have happened, but had no valuables in them, so I don't know what the reason was. Avoid this place unless it's the only option near M.G MARG.

There was no water, no room service, and nobody at reception. The rooms were expensive and had a poor view, or no view at all. This hotel deserves less than one star. Be careful: it may look cheap, but they seem to run a scam with Make my trip by charging nearly 5 to 10 times more during the holiday season.

The staff were polite, helpful, and quick whenever we needed something. Our room was neat, comfortable, and well looked after, and the hotel's location was great. Everything was clean and the atmosphere was lovely. I had a truly wonderful stay at Sparrow juniper Hotel in Gangtok.
