Taj Guras Kutir Resort & Spa, Gangtok

We only stayed one night at Taj Guras, Gangtok, but the property and its welcoming staff left us raving about it. Our friends had trouble with their room’s heating and cooling, and manager Anil was very accommodating and more than made up for the inconvenience. It was off season, so there wasn’t a breakfast buffet, but the à la carte food was more than enough. Bhavesh and Saurabh at breakfast made sure our plates had what we wanted, and their service was impeccable. On the way to Darjeeling, we also stopped at the Taj Guras mid-point rest stop for hi-tea, packaged snacks, and biscuits. It’s conveniently located and, most importantly, has clean restrooms. Pemu, a lovely young lady, runs it. Even our local drivers appreciated how clean and well maintained the stop was, since that can be hard to find. A wonderful experience with the Taj group of hotels, as always, and Sikkim itself was beautiful. Thank you!

We stayed two nights at Taj Guras Kutir Resort & Spa, Gangtok, for my birthday, and the staff made the occasion feel special from the start. They decorated our room and surprised us with a chocolate mousse cake. They also took a picture of us there and gave it to us in a pretty frame when we checked out. The package covered all three meals, served à la carte rather than as a buffet, so we could order anything from the menu. The food was superb, and the hi-tea was mind-blowing. We wanted to have hi-tea on an open-air deck for the views, but the February chill was extreme and that deck had no permanent seating. As soon as we asked, the team set up a round table and chairs so we could enjoy it the way we wanted. Their hospitality really was next level, with a can-do attitude. The property’s Mid-Way refreshment point is a cosy little place with seating for about 15, plus tea, coffee, and dry snacks for a quick daytime break. Every request was met with a smile and personal service. It was an amazing birthday stay, and I can’t recommend Taj Guras Kutir enough.

We tried the spa, forest walking trail, and games room, and I’d recommend all three. The food was a hit too, especially the grilled fish and Sikkimese thali. Breakfast had a great spread, and the staff and chef kept checking in with us. Our Luxury Mountain View Room was spacious, very clean, and had a beautiful view. We stayed five nights, and luckily got one clear morning to see the Kanchenjunga range. Housekeeping kept the room neat and decorated it beautifully for our birthdays. The resort is a little gem, tucked away from the bustle, with warm staff and great views of Kanchenjunga. Taj never disappoints. On the way there, the Taj Midpoint for refreshments and a quick break was thoughtful and much appreciated.

We missed the deck’s star-gazing experience because the evening skies were cloudy, but the stunning view of Kanchenjunga more than made up for it. Watching the peaks was unforgettable and made our two nights feel worthwhile. The spa sessions, local delicacies, nearby forest trek, and indoor games all gave us lovely ways to spend our time, with fresh mountain air and a chance to relax. Taj Guras Kutir is calm and beautifully situated, close enough to Gangtok but tucked away from the rush. It was easy to pause and enjoy the quiet. We’d love to return when we’re in this part of the world again xx. Also, don’t skip the Taj Guras mid-point stop on the way to or from the airport. It’s clean, well maintained, and a convenient place for a comfortable break while travelling to or from Sikkim.
