Deva Samudra Beach Stay

The beach facing room on the first floor had an amazing view, and there’s plenty of parking inside the complex. The attached restaurant serves amazing food, but it’s expensive. We didn’t get hot water, though the warm weather made it manageable. It was also strange to hear at reception that rooms aren’t cleaned unless you ask. Deva Samudra is a decent mix of budget and premium, with good views. It’s right on the north side of the main beach, and the roads are well laid but narrow. I’d recommend staying if you can get a beach facing room.

The location is the only reason to consider this place. The property itself is good, but the strict, senseless limits on how long you can stay out, the very rude and inhospitable staff, and the terrible food brought back memories of our hostel days. The owners should change the management or give them better training on handling guest requests. The Wi-Fi was poor in the sea facing rooms, staff didn’t respond when called, and the food was very bad. I’d suggest walking 100m down the beach to sunset cafe, where the food, staff, and accommodation are much better. This was the worst hotel I’ve had the misfortune to experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Dinner at the resort restaurant by the beach, with the sound of the waves, was lovely, and a long walk afterward made it even better. We also had dinner at Sunset Café the next day, which was equally great. The beachfront location gives easy access to the water, a big plus for families and beach lovers. We were four in a quad bedroom, and it felt quite small and congested. It would suit two people better, with a single queen or king size bed. The room was clean and well maintained, but the spring mattress wasn’t very supportive, so I wouldn’t recommend it to people with back pain or senior citizens. It’s a good family option for those who enjoy beaches, seaside cafés, and a relaxed coastal feel. The location and food experience stand out.

The restaurant attached to the resort was the biggest letdown. The food was stale and tasteless, so we had to go elsewhere, which was inconvenient. If they partnered with a good restaurant, this place could be a complete package for a comfortable stay with good food. The location is good and the freshly painted rooms are large, but they didn’t look clean. There were brown spots on the floor, stained sheets, and lots of insects. The bathroom had hair in it and the toilet was stained when we arrived, so we had to ask the cleaning lady to do it again. She seemed least bothered about cleaning properly. For the price, it was just okay for one night.
