The lake itself is lovely, but you can’t camp right beside it. The camping spot is on a meadow (bugiyal) about 500 meters away, and Deoria Lake(Tal) is the only water source nearby. Getting there means a gradual uphill walk from Sari Village, about 2 km, which most people can manage in 2-3 hours depending on fitness.
The uphill part at the start is a bit tough, but after that the 3 km jungle trek is worth it for the lake tucked among the mountains. If you’re staying in Chopta or Sari village for a day, you can make the trip and be back at your hotel in 3 to 4 hours. Stop at omarkareshwar temple for blessings along the way.
