After midnight, between 15-17 drunk men arrived and banged on our door, aggressively demanding a girl. The front desk staff had opened the gate, letting them onto the premises. It was shocking, and we later learned that the owner’s relative had conveniently left the campus at the same time. The men twisted the doorknob and nearly broke the lower part of our door trying to force their way in. Terrified, we barricaded ourselves in the room with chairs and sofas. The fear and helplessness of that night were traumatic and will stay with us forever. We called the police immediately, but the hotel staff’s response was appalling. Someone downstairs was supposedly speaking to the police while the men upstairs kept banging on our door unchecked. The whole thing felt orchestrated and suspicious. The next day, the owner refused to provide the CCTV footage and kept making excuses. He even made up a bizarre story about a couple who had stayed months earlier, seemingly to shift the blame. There was no accountability, just what looked like an effort to cover up what happened. This is a nightmare of a hotel, unsafe and unprofessional, especially for families. Stay far away if you value your safety.

I didn’t feel safe here, especially for women or families. The rooms were filthy and smelled bad, and after midnight outsiders came around, disturbed us, and tried to force their way into the room. The hotel staff were involved in this kind of activity too. There was no security at all, so families should stay away.

The washroom was dirty and smelled awful, the flush didn’t work, the fan regulator was broken, and there were mosquitoes. When I reported the flush, they blamed other guests for breaking it and said there was nothing they could do. Someone else asked whether I’d booked a Classic or Deluxe room, as if a working flush required paying extra. What a waste of time and money.

The staff were polite and friendly, which is the only reason I’m giving this two stars. I stayed one day for official work. The guest house seemed very new, wasn’t listed on TripAdvisor yet, and sits in a residential area, but a lot needs improvement. The stained sheets and pillowcases, dirty toilet, and lack of a bathroom hook for clothes were all problems. I asked for the toilet to be cleaned, but it wasn’t. The food was very average, and staff kept calling me with questions, so they need more training. I’d only suggest staying here if there’s nowhere else in all of Guwahati.
