Tranquil Beach Resort

Getting straight to the good part, the Surmai Rawa fry was very good, and the beach access is a plus. But this was a booking made three weeks ahead, not a walk-in, and the rooms and housekeeping were really disappointing. The beds weren’t made, the linen was dirty and torn, and the washrooms were dirty, with basins that seemed never to have been cleaned. The floor wiper was broken and rusty, the toilet brush was left in the bathroom, the exhaust fan didn’t work, and the lighting was poor. They don’t provide face towels or drinking water in the rooms, and we had to keep asking for basics. The rooms felt very woody, with a strong toilet freshener smell covering a musty, mouldy odor. Upkeep, especially housekeeping, needs attention. Lunch and dinner were only available as thalis, despite the large menu they advertise. At breakfast we waited 15 minutes for basic bread and butter, which wasn’t available. The rest of the food was average. They also don’t take responsibility for vehicles. This was not worth the money.

The food choices and quality were a concern: they only offered thalis, and the food wasn’t very good. There weren’t suitable choices for toddlers, so bring something for them if you stay here. The location is excellent, right by Harihareshwar beach, and the rooms were cozy, though ours was at the far end where poor lighting made the door and stairs hard to see. The staff were helpful, but parking is outside the property, which could be a safety concern. Shared areas looked neglected. The children’s play area was badly rusted and falling apart, so it didn’t seem safe for kids, and the sun deck chairs looked as though they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The interior looks nice and well lit at night. They can also provide a bonfire if you ask.

When our car ran into trouble, the staff stepped in at just the right time. That help meant a lot to my family, and we really appreciated the care. We had a memorable stay, with delicious food and excellent hospitality. We hope to come back.

The restaurant had good seafood choices, though breakfast could be much better. The buffet was limited and mostly Maharashtrian. The rooms were clean and nice, but the air-conditioning had a slight musty smell. The resort is right by the beach, with the sound of the waves, and it feels almost like a private beach in the early morning and late hours. Good value for the location, with room to improve, and probably the best option there.
