Palguni Residency

We’d booked two deluxe rooms with king-size beds for five people, and I’d mentioned we were traveling with a child. For the roughly ₹5,000 I paid, we were instead given rooms with two single beds. When I complained, staff said that was all they had and told me to take it or leave it. Arriving in Hassan at around 10 p.m. exhausted, I couldn’t go looking for another hotel, which was frustrating. I had to ask room service to push the beds together and put a sheet between them, and they weren’t very welcoming or helpful about it. Nobody helped with our luggage at check-in or checkout, so I carried it all myself. Parking was limited, which I understand since the hotel is usually full, but I had to park on the street. The stay fell short of what I expected. There are nearby hotels at lower prices with similar reviews, and service might be better there.

Panjurly, the hotel’s restaurant, serves tasty, good quality food, and room service is available. It’s a pure vegetarian hotel. The property is centrally located in Hassan, with very clean, neat rooms and a well maintained building. Reception was quick, and parking includes covered spaces. Towels, water and soap are provided free. We liked the hotel.

For a place so close to the Bus stand, I’d expected less, but Palguni Residency surprised me. The rooms were noticeably clean, and check-in was smooth. The price was a little higher than at other properties, though the rooms, bathroom, parking and quick response from reception when we called about small issues stood out. They have an in-house restaurant, but we skipped breakfast because we were there for a function and just had milk. My one complaint is the beds, which are very soft and squishy, like hotel beds often are. Excellent stay, no doubt.

For the price, it’s a good place, with clean, neat rooms and bathrooms. Parking was no problem, with spaces in the basement and outside. They have a vegetarian restaurant. I do wish there were a water heating jug and softer pillows, though. If you want a morning cup of tea, there’s a nice shop just a short walk to the left as you leave the hotel.
