Palette - Krishna Palace

The waitstaff were attentive and courteous, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel. There was a buffet for every meal with an extensive menu, yet the food was ordinary and restaurant hygiene was poor. Tiny insects, possibly cockroaches, were crawling over the tables and food. We stayed two weekdays. The lobby looked grand, but the room problems started right away. Room 4014 smelled throughout because all its drains were blocked. After several complaints to the lobby, we were moved to 4016 at 9:30 pm. Its bathroom smelled badly too, though the drains worked, and the sheets were stained and hadn't been changed. We didn't get fresh ones until 10:30 pm. The smell was manageable with the bathroom door shut, and at least we could use it.

The room was spacious and the bed was made well, and the building looks good. But the shower walls weren't clean. There's a rusty soap holder that fits just one soap, with nowhere to put a shampoo bottle. They don't provide conditioner or hand towels. We had to ask for extra coffee and creamer packets, which they gave reluctantly, and even an extra towel required someone's permission.

The biggest letdown for me was the staff member at reception, who wasn't cooperative or polite. My room, number 5015, also had a leaking toilet, and hot water wasn't available until after 5 am. Breakfast had a good range, but it wasn't managed well: many items had run out and took time to refill. On the plus side, the hotel is on the main road and worked for a quick stop, and the room was spacious enough for two adults and a child. These are just my experiences; others may see it differently.

The hotel sits centrally in Hospete, with shops, medical services, and places to eat close by. There's parking for about six to eight cars at lobby level and another six to eight in the basement. The breakfast had plenty of choices, though the flavors could be improved. Rooms are large, and the glass elevator is positioned in the center of the hotel. They seemed a little worn and could use an update. With that improvement, and the other positives, this could become a top place to stay in Hospete and a base for trips to Hampi, Badami, Pattadakal, and Aihole.
