Mila Retreat Camp

The location is excellent, right by nature, and the staff were helpful throughout our two nights at Mila Retreat camp. Makhan singhji did a good job guiding us during the stay. It’s a camp-only setup, and the camps were okay. The bedsheets weren’t clean, but they replaced them when I asked. Electricity is available only until 11 pm, and there’s water for bathing for one hour in the morning. That seems to be common across Nubra Valley. We had buffet breakfast and dinner, but the food was average and could be improved. A decent stay overall.

The valley views and surroundings were great, and the buffet food tasted good. Some tent zips were damaged, and hot water was served for just one hour in the morning. They repeated the same menu both days, which we didn’t like much, but they’ll make a different choice on request at no extra cost. Electricity was limited, I think, to 6-8 in the morning and 7-11:30 at night. Overnight there’s perhaps just one bulb on battery, and the charging outlets are off. Ask about every detail before booking a camp. In Pangong, electricity is only on from 7 to 10:30 pm, so you need to bring a torch.

We came in the off season, and they looked after us very well. The camp was good, with clean tents that stayed warm inside. Most of all, the toilet was clean and seemed hygienic.

Staying in the camps was a wonderful experience, and we were very comfortable. The staff and manager were helpful, the food was worth it, and the camps were clean. Whenever we asked for something, they responded right away. A lovely stay!
