Hotel Sri Madhura Inn

The staff were rude and unprofessional, with no sign of remorse. They seemed to think it was our job to accommodate their renovation work. After two days’ reservation, I left the next day and booked another hotel. It was a waste of money and a test of patience, the worst hotel I’ve booked. I wish I could give it zero stars. I found out at check-in that the hotel was under renovation. There were no double rooms available, so they gave me two separate single beds, though the booking hadn’t mentioned that. The pictures were misleading. The beds were terrible, with broken plywood visible beside the mattress. The mattress may have been smaller than the bed, and it was dirty and full of holes. The sheets were dirty too. One curtain was torn, and the room felt stuffy and suffocating, with no proper ventilation. The AC remote was missing, so I had to adjust it manually with only one setting. The washroom stank, the flush was broken, and the fittings had been taken out. The Wi-Fi connected but there was no internet. Two hours into my stay, hotel staff asked to check the room’s wiring for the renovation. A few hours later, two or three people said plumbing work had to be done and I couldn’t use the washroom for two hours. By then I was furious and asked them to change my room. The other room was a little better, but still not good.

A solid budget stay, with friendly staff, good service, a tasty complimentary breakfast, and easy access from the main road. The place is decorated decently, and though the building is clearly older, it’s been kept in good shape. Our room had good air conditioning, HD Tata Sky channels, a working mini fridge, and a clean toilet. It felt like good value without giving up too much comfort. A couple of things could be better. There’s no dedicated parking, so cars go in front of the building or along the alleyway, though those spots are under video surveillance. The bed in our room was small for a family with a child, but might suit a couple. We booked at the last minute, which may have affected the room. There were plenty of outlets, but both my chargers had trouble fitting because the switches were too close to the sockets. An extension cord would help. Sorry I didn’t take photos, but the pictures on MakeMyTrip looked pretty accurate.

The beds had bed bugs that bit all night, and the staff were rude and unprofessional. When I arrived, the lift wasn’t working, so I had to carry my luggage up to the third floor. There was no internet either. This place was utterly disgusting. The photos show what I mean. Spend a few hundred extra and stay at hotel nera Regency instead.

Our room was on the very top floor. It was spacious, the AC cooled well, and the service was good. But rainwater came into the room and onto the floor, and the flush in one of the bathrooms didn’t work.
