Swagath De Royal

We hosted my son’s birthday dinner for around 100 guests on 29th April 2018 at Swagath De Royal Kondapur banquet hall on 4th floor. This review pulls together feedback from many guests. The hall rated 4 out of 5. Its ambience was very good, with nice seating and a stage. The air conditioning was excellent, and everyone was comfortable despite it being summer. Management, including sales, was good, and the coordination around choosing the food menu was fairly good. The hall and toilets were hygienic, and staff were hospitable and responsive. Food got 3 out of 5. The quality and taste were quite average and need a lot of improvement. The Pine apple juice from the menu had too much water in it. Non veg portions were very small, so we had to keep asking for more. The spice levels were well managed and could be adjusted to customers’ needs when we advised the hotel. No complaint about the spiciness.

We’d reserved the lunch buffet for a team of 20, but the food’s quality and quantity were very disappointing. Most items were never replenished. Staff kept acting as though they were refilling the trays, which tested customers’ patience. De-royal is royally looting its customers. The unprofessional staff and management show through everywhere.

The prices are reasonable, and the food is good for what you pay. I liked the lemon coriander chicken soup; the other dishes were okay. It’s a nice place for dinner with friends or family, with a great ambiance. Service was only satisfactory, though.

The photos looked good, so we thought the hotel would be okay, but the service was really poor. Water was pouring from the AC, and the geyser didn’t work. Even with those problems, they charged extra for checking out two hours late. The room felt like a roadside dump, yet they charged me almost as much as the Marriott. This Swagat needs maintenance, and I don’t plan to choose it again.
