Hotel Fort Chandragupt Jaipur

The staff were the biggest problem: rude, careless, and shockingly unprofessional. My key stopped working, and reception still didn’t sort it out after I reported it several times. One staff member insulted me while dealing with it. Then a housekeeping worker opened my room with a master key without checking with me or getting permission. It made clear how little guest safety and privacy mattered here. The room itself was miserable. Rats ran around, lights were broken, the AC wasn’t proper, and the bed creaked noisily. The bathroom was filthy and smelled foul, and loud TV noise carried through the corridors all day. The supposed “suite” had no proper split AC and looked nothing like what had been promised. Dinner was disgusting, and it tasted so unhygienic that I left the hotel to eat at Taxi Restaurant across the road. If you end up staying here, I’d avoid the hotel food and eat somewhere else. It’s noisy, unhygienic, and badly managed, with no comfort to speak of. I’d tell people to stay away unless they want to ruin their trip and waste their money.

The food was delicious and high quality, and Priya and Kanhaiya from the restaurant team were fantastic and helpful. The staff worked together well, and having a dedicated team to handle vehicle parking and services made everything convenient. Mahendra welcomed us from the start and really took ownership of our experience, going out of his way to make sure things were right. That hospitality made a strong impression. Hotel Fort Chandragupt is a beautiful heritage hotel with a lovely atmosphere and a palace-like feel. We’d never booked here before, and it turned out to be a very good experience, worth every penny. If you’re visiting Jaipur and want to stay near the center, we highly recommend it. Five stars.

The breakfast was poor, with few choices and food below what I’d expect from a hotel in this category. Housekeeping was a letdown too. When a cold drink spilled in our room at night, we asked for help cleaning it up, but were told it would have to wait until morning. The suite had a bathtub, but there was no stopper, so guests couldn’t use it. Advertising a tub that can’t be used makes no sense. Children also weren’t allowed in the swimming pool area, even if they could swim well and were supervised. The property badly needs maintenance, and almost every part of the suite showed wear and neglect. Between the upkeep, service, policies, and food, I wouldn’t recommend staying here or come back myself.

This was my second visit, and the pool was unclean and unavailable to guests. At checkout, the front desk wouldn’t give me a tentative bill breakdown in advance, saying it would only be ready at checkout. When I got the final bill, some items were priced above their MRP. They said it had already been processed and couldn’t be changed. The front desk executive stayed dismissive and unhelpful, and after a long discussion they offered only a nominal discount. The suite smelled unpleasant, and the floor didn’t look clean when I checked in. The bathrooms were acceptable, but it took around five minutes for even lukewarm water. Breakfast had limited choices and average taste, more like a formality than a benefit. Lunch and dinner were overpriced for the portions. The service doesn’t justify the price, and based on my experience I wouldn’t recommend this property.
