Hotel Baba Haveli

Set in an old haveli, The Baba Hotel is richly and beautifully decorated, with many original details still preserved. Our room was spacious and came at a very reasonable price. The owner and staff were especially friendly and helpful, making it a peaceful place to stay. We're grateful for their hospitality and help.

During my October 2023 visit, someone entered our room without permission. They later explained that maintenance needed access and assured us our belongings were safe because of CCTV, but there had been no warning beforehand, which felt unprofessional. The exterior has heritage charm, and the reception and wall decor help create that mood, but the rooms badly need renovation. Some locks were broken, so we had to change rooms, only to find furniture that had clearly seen better days. The bathrooms weren't as clean as I'd hoped, and there was no hot water facility. They would bring a bucket of hot water if we asked. I came away with mixed feelings.

The egg portions are generous here, so I'd avoid ordering too many.

Getting around by bus or auto rickshaw takes some effort, though it's manageable. This is a clean, well-kept three-star budget hotel, and the artwork gives it some character. The place is simple but comfortable enough for its category. Staff are very friendly and pleasant. Hot water can take a while because you need to call the front desk for it.
