Laxmi Palace Heritage Boutique Hotel

The best part of our three days at Laxmi Palace was the welcome from Mr. Shakthi at reception. We arrived well before check-in, and he still made sure we were comfortable and settled. His kindness and smile made us feel at home. The hotel is tucked away from the busy traffic on Station Road, so it felt like a quiet retreat. The metro station and bus stand are both an easy walk away. Breakfast was a decent buffet each morning, and the location was very convenient.

The room had stains on the bedsheet, mouldy buckets in the bathroom, and mould inside the water kettle. There were cobwebs around the lamps, one ceiling light was out of place, and the electricity cut out with no backup. The AC was noisy when we checked in. Staff tried hitting it with a fist and doing jugad, but that did not fix it, and they did not offer another room. Before check-in, we saw two bottles of water, one only half full, and didn't dare drink from them. We booked because the place looked good, but this was not what I expected from a four star hotel. At checkout, no one tried to make up for the problems, though they smiled and asked how the service was. I wouldn't recommend coming back. There are much better hotels for less.

The room was nicely decorated, but the windows don't close tightly, so plenty of street noise gets in. There's a nice pool, though sadly no gym. From the outside the hotel looks good, and the reception area is pleasant. The rooftop restaurant puts on a fun show every night at 8pm. Breakfast downstairs gets crowded, so having the option to eat on the terrace would be nice.

The rooms were very good, and the staff were courteous and helpful. We also enjoyed the very good breakfast buffet and evening cultural program. Our bathroom had a really bad smell. They tried to fix it but couldn't, so hopefully they'll get it repaired soon.
