Heritage Homestay

The room was the worst part of my stay at Heritage Homestay. It smelled stale and closed up, with hair on the bed, pillows, and blanket, dusty corners, and lighting so dim it seemed to hide the dirt. The bathroom was just as bad: no working hot water, very weak pressure, leaking pipes, and a dull, wet floor. Bathing under a thin trickle of cold water was nearly impossible. For ₹4,242.00 a night, that was unbelievable. Even the drinking water felt unsafe. They gave me reused Coca-Cola and Pepsi bottles, scratched and cloudy, with unsealed water inside. I could see bubbles floating in it. I wouldn't even rinse my mouth with that, never mind drink it. The whole property seemed unmanaged. Just two people were running it, and often only one person was around while everything else was left unattended. There was no food or proper service, and no sense of responsibility. It felt like wandering into somebody's half-functioning home, not a homestay. At checkout, the owner asked me to leave a positive review for ₹200. He also said they sometimes ask guests to write reviews on their phones so staff can type them. That was stunningly dishonest. Instead of fixing the problems, they seemed to be paying for fake ratings. I left irritated, feeling cheated and drained. The stay ruined my mood. Thinking back on it still annoys me, and I can't understand how a place charging that much can be run so carelessly, with so little basic hygiene. If cleanliness, honesty, service, or basic decency matter to you, stay far away from Heritage Homestay. One of my dirtiest, most frustrating stays.

The owner is a decent person who cares about customer satisfaction, and we had a memorable time here. It's a lovely, spacious bungalow in a central location, with plenty of room for a family to spend time together. I strongly recommend it as a homestay in Jammu.

I wouldn't recommend Heritage Homestay based on my stay. The service felt almost absent, and I didn't get the basic hospitality I expected. Being asked for a positive review in exchange for a little money made me uncomfortable and left me questioning how genuine some online reviews are. I hope they improve the service and focus on real customer satisfaction.

The rooms and washrooms were clean and nicely decorated. It's a beautiful, warm place, and the host was welcoming. Amit deserves a special mention, his personal touch made the whole stay better.
