Surpura Bagh

It's a peaceful spot, and the large grounds were lovely for walks after dinner. There was even a cow shed on the property, which was interesting. The hotel is some distance from the city, so getting into town isn't especially convenient. Staff were courteous and helpful, and upgraded our room without us asking. They quickly arranged portable fireplaces in the garden for dinner too. Breakfast choices were limited and entirely vegetarian, though the food and drinks were good quality.

The food was a big highlight. Both restaurants were great: the Indian one had authentic Rajasthani dishes and lovely desserts, and the Italian place made one of the best arrabiata pastas I've had. The mocktails were excellent too, especially the Kokum special. Chef Naresh puts so much passion into every dish, and Akhil took wonderful care of us and went above and beyond. Thanks as well to Bipul, Piyush, and Madhusudhan ji for such a lovely weekend. I hope I can come back soon. I spent four days here and barely wanted to leave the property. The luxurious rooms had beautiful contemporary Jodhpur interiors, and the bedding felt like sleeping on a cloud. The lawns and views were stunning, and I especially loved relaxing in the central lawn, enjoying the sun and chatting with staff. Everyone was exceptionally courteous and checked in to see if we needed anything. Every corner felt thoughtfully designed.

From the moment we arrived at the front desk, the whole staff were considerate and helpful, thinking ahead and doing their best throughout the property. We had dinner at the Indian restaurant, where Rajan Jha was an impressive server. He gave excellent service, paced our meal and helped set the menu. He was professional, guest-focused and great to talk with. A must-recommend place to stay, relax and eat.

Surpura Bagh has lovely open grounds and lush gardens, and the morning live instrumental music was a soulful, classy touch. The rooms are very spacious, and the staff I met were among the gentlest and most hospitable. The property has good bones, but the team seems sweet rather than professionally trained for high-end hospitality. Its distance from the city makes popping in difficult for tourists, though my business happened to be nearby. For such a remote resort, facilities are limited: no fitness center, no on-site spa (they use an outside vendor), and no work desk in the room. It's a pure veg resort, which felt like an outdated restriction for a luxury property. The Wi-Fi was terrible, and the TV didn't work through my whole 2-day stay. I was also concerned that the shower cubicle's external window isn't tinted enough, so with the lights on at night, privacy is completely compromised. I had requested a packed breakfast the night before leaving at 7:30 AM and got confirmation, but in the morning the staff said the kitchen doesn't open that early. Management, training and facilities need a serious upgrade to justify staying here.
