Pearl Spot Homestay

We stayed for two weeks and felt like part of the family from the first day. Laiju, Rani, Leona and Ceona are such friendly hosts, and we had many happy hours on the terrace sharing a cold beer and exchanging stories about our cultures. The whole family speaks very good English. Rani cooks wonderfully. Her homemade breakfasts and evening meals were delicious, generous, and varied. The bedrooms are large and spotless, with A/C, which was a big help even in winter, and there's plenty of outdoor space to relax. The peaceful neighbourhood is very nice, about 4 km from the centre of Allepey, which you can reach easily by autorickshaw. This was the best place we stayed during our three-month tour of India. I highly recommend it.

The meal I liked best was the tangy fish gravy, and they made sure we sat down to eat with them, which really made us feel like family. Rani and the others were very friendly, and it was a perfect homestay. If you enjoy local food, I'd book without hesitation. For breakfast they made puttu with wheat, rice and jackfruit, plus kadala curry and banana. We also had chapathi, rice, chicken, fried fish, and fish gravy. Thanks to liju, leona, seona and rani for making our stay memorable 🙂

It cost a bit more, but felt worth it. Warm, full of laughter and stories, it was like a home away from home.
