Himalaya Eagle Resort Kalimpong

I spent hours enjoying the mountain scenery from the balcony, and you can see Kanchenjunga from every cottage. Himalayan Eagle is a small, well-kept homestay with seven cottages in Chibbo, a beautiful village near Kalimpong. We went for a short break last month, 23-25 January 2023, and had a wonderful stay. The rooms are simple but very clean, and the washrooms were spotless, with modern fittings and a geyser. Susanne, the owner, oversaw everything and manages the property very professionally. They have their own vehicle for pickups and tours. I also went down to the restaurant for lunch. This homestay feels quite different from the typical ones.

We stayed in the cottage-style rooms and enjoyed the mountain views, especially Mt.Kanchanjangha, without going anywhere else. The food was tasty, and the rooms felt cozy, clean, and well cared for. The washroom is usually my main concern, and thankfully it was still very good. This was my second visit to Himalayan Eagle Homestay in Chibbo, with my husband, in January 2023. Susanne was just as charming and welcoming as when we met her a few years ago. The property is so well built and maintained that we kept wondering how she manages it. I recommend a visit to Chibbo and a stay here.

We loved the evening bonfire and the walk to the viewpoint. It’s a lovely, quiet village, and the food was amazing. A great place to stay.

Our stay at Himalayan Eagle Resort in Kalimpong was awful. Even though we had booked for two days, we struggled to find the resort because the address wasn’t clearly marked and there was no proper signage or help. When we arrived, we were told to leave immediately. The owner’s attitude was shocking, and we were threatened with physical harm if we didn’t comply. The staff were rude, unhelpful, and arrogant. We felt unwelcome and uncomfortable, and the service was poor throughout. We filed a complaint about the threatening behaviour at the Kalimpong police station. No guest should be treated this way. I strongly advise against staying here, as there are better options in Kalimpong that care about guest comfort and safety.
