Modi Hotel & Resorts

The market is nearby, and Hungry Point, a great fast-food spot, is just around the corner. We had a comfortable night at Modi Hotel before our morning train to Shimla. The rooms were clean and service was smooth. It’s very close to Kalka Railway Station, and they even arranged a rickshaw for us, which made things easy. A hassle-free stay in a great location, highly recommended.

The room I got was huge, with a wall-to-wall glass window that gave a nice view of the road and surroundings and made the space feel livelier. I stayed for one night in late January 2026. The attached bathroom was okay, though it looked a bit grubby and needs better cleaning and upkeep. I’d strongly suggest adding a hygiene faucet to the Western commode. Toilet paper is provided, but most Indians aren’t comfortable using it. The restaurant serves hot food, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Some menu items take a long time, so if you want something quickly, ask the server what can be brought out fast. The hotel is on Kalka Main road, within walking distance of Kalka railway station. You can also flag down an autorickshaw to the station, the per-seat fare is Rs 20/-.

We came as a teacher with students and colleagues, and the service was outstanding. The staff were very cooperative, the food was delicious, and everything was well managed. I’m truly grateful for the warm hospitality at Modi’s Hotel, Chandigarh. Highly recommended for families and educational groups.

The food was good, and the room was spacious, with an extra bed that pulls out from a drawer. The lighting in both the room and toilet was poor, though. The washrooms need repair work where things are broken, and the sanitary fittings need more cleaning and maintenance. Overall, it’s good for a one-night stay.
