Hotel Affas

The food was awful, and the place felt unhygienic, with unprofessional staff. We ordered ghee roast first, but it was dry, while the sambar and chutney were watery and had no flavour. Since it was late and there was nowhere else to get food for our kid, we ordered a thatte dosa parcel. The man packed only the dosa in foil. When I asked, he gave me extremely watery chutney, which I only discovered after getting home. I then asked for a carry bag. He sent me to the kitchen, but they redirected me to the cash counter, where I was told by the owner that it was just one item and they couldn’t waste a big cover.

There’s plenty of parking, and the place is clean and well maintained, with courteous staff. It’s one of the few purely vegetarian hotels in Kalpetta city and has a wide selection of veg dishes. The food is decent and reasonably priced, making it a convenient stop for veg lovers.

They open at 7am, earlier than most hotels in the area. I went for breakfast and found idli and dosa, both good. There’s ample parking out front, the service was very good, and the hotel is purely vegetarian.

Best place in the area, with good North and South Indian food. Definitely worth a visit.
