Rumis Desert Camp

The night trip to the dunes was the standout for me. After dinner, we drove about an hour and had the dunes to ourselves, with no lights visible for kilometres. The bonfires and clear sky made stargazing superb. I’d absolutely do it again and recommend it to anyone visiting. We stayed two nights, and the included cultural program was amazing. The camp service was great and the rooms were fine. The daytime desert safari took us into dunes stretching over 1 km, which was nice but could have been better. The sunset camel ride lasted around 30 minutes and was a nice experience too.

We were greeted with a traditional Tilak and refreshments, then enjoyed local folk songs and dances performed by local artists. The dinner and breakfast were very good. The Rumis Desert Camp at Sam, Tehsil Sam, Dist.-Jaisalmer has 22 tents and is a beautiful place for an overnight stay. Mr. Shakur ji at the front office was very helpful with registration. Our room was spacious and clean, and the bedsheet and towels were clean as well.

Our driver, SAMEER Bhaiya, deserves a special mention. He was professional, polite, and helpful throughout the trip, kept the journey safe and comfortable, shared local insights, and stayed positive. The evening at the Rumis desert camp at Jaisalmer was unforgettable. We had delicious traditional food, enjoyed the cultural program, and relaxed by a bonfire under the open desert sky. The music and peaceful surroundings made it feel surreal.

The camel and jeep safaris, along with the evening cultural program, made our stay feel special. The tents were comfortable, spacious, and clean, and the staff were courteous and helpful throughout. We also enjoyed fresh, delicious food. A lovely place to experience the Thar Desert, and highly recommended for couples and families.
