Homansh Galaxy Hotel

The restaurant food and the breakfast included by the hotel were below average. The location is excellent, with pretty much anything you need within 1km. Staff and service were really good. The rooms were better than the washrooms, which need improvement.

I paid in full in advance through Make My trip, so I had no choice but to put up with a miserable stay. I used to stay here on visits to Kanpur, but stopped during the renovations. Six months later I booked again. The renovation was mostly done, yet the amenities and service had deteriorated further. The intercom didn't work, so room service wasn't reachable and I had to go to reception for anything. They offered to move me after I complained, but the other rooms were just as bad. One had water supply problems along with similar amenity issues. There were no towels when I checked late in the evening, though they could provide them in the morning. The room tap fittings were loose and the AC remote didn't work, so I had to switch the unit off and on at the wall. The restaurant had a new menu, but the room still had the old one. An electric kettle was provided without a power connection. Avoid this property.

The location is the one good thing. Even though the hotel is in a busy area, the rooms are surprisingly quiet and peaceful. We booked 4 Deluxe rooms, but they varied a lot in size. Some were spacious and others were extremely small, which was disappointing for the same room category. Service was poor too. After we'd gone out and left the rooms to be cleaned, staff didn't replace basics like towels or dental kits. We had to call reception 2-3 times, then wait almost half an hour for delivery. Hot water was also unreliable. A hot shower meant running the tap for 15-20 minutes, and sometimes that still didn't work, so we had to complain.

The TV didn't work, room service was really bad, and there was dampness on the wall. At check-in they said they'd give us complimentary tea or coffee if we gave them 5 stars. The balcony view was horrible.
