Omkara Homestay

The people were lovely, and my stay was excellent. I’ve only been there once, but it was a fabulous, warm experience. It’s been six years since I last went, yet the place still has the same beauty. I’d like to visit again. One of the best quality stays in the area.

The rooms were really nice, and the staff, just two people, were kind, but they didn't take our concerns seriously. The hotel is tucked away, and the roads are so bad that getting to the main town is a hassle. They serve tasty food, but only breakfast and dinner. There was no RO water or power backup, and electricity is a real issue there. I feel water and electricity are basic necessities. People also came banging on our door at 3 a.m., which was pretty traumatic. With no security guard, I thought they should at least have someone on guard.

The view from the room and balcony takes in both the road and the mountains, and the rooms were neat and clean. Staff were polite, the food was tasty and affordable, and parking was easy with plenty of space. Kasauli Mall Road and other tourist attractions are only about 3-4 km away. We had a wonderful, peaceful stay at this decent, budget friendly homestay. I'd recommend booking it if you're after affordable accommodation.

We thought a homestay would be a better choice than a hotel, but our two nights here turned out completely differently. The rooms were small and dingy, and the geyser didn't work. There's no power backup either. The food was awful, really spicy, and they served what they chose without asking about our preferences. Other homestays serve meals according to what guests like. This was the worst experience, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. Look for another homestay nearby.
