The breakfast was very poor, while food prices were like those at a five-star hotel. The fan and AC were extremely dirty, as was the wardrobe, which was full of fungus and didn’t even have paper lining. The rooms themselves were dirty, and the washroom smelled bad, with color marks all over the floor. Hot water didn’t last long. Towels were very poor quality, and there were no toothbrushes, holders, or napkins. They didn’t provide complimentary water bottles or glasses, and there was no coffee maker. Only two TV channels were available. They said it was their policy to provide just two, which was really surprising. Internet speed was only 0.5 MBPS, far too slow to stream video. TV and telephone cables hung messily, like in a bachelor’s room. The telephone was beside the TV, making calls hard to make and receive. Only one socket by the bed worked for charging, and the rest were useless. There was just one shared balcony for the room and housekeeping staff. When they closed its door, it affected the room door and sounded like someone was knocking constantly. Outside voices came through clearly, and bikes and cars caused a lot of noise. Room service was terrible, and housekeeping boys weren’t available when needed. When I complained to the receptionist, they seemed helpless and said they couldn’t manage the housekeeping staff. The lift smelled bad.

The receptionist was rude and told us to leave immediately, or call the police ourselves if we had to. A day before our already-paid checkout date, we were told the police were shutting the place down and that we had to leave. The rooms were unhygienic, the bedsheet had stains, no water was provided, and the location was very isolated. Shady-looking people kept coming and going. We thought OYO would arrange somewhere else, but it took a long time. They sent us to another hotel an hour away by car, where people we felt were racist refused to let us in, saying they didn’t allow some of my colleagues’ nationalities. We lost a whole day trying to find another place and missed our conference. The worst experience ever.

I stayed nearly a month for Byjus, and the receptionist Manis was good, but the living conditions weren’t. The toilet spray gun, bathroom hanging rack, and window lock were broken. Breakfast early in the morning was very bad. There were only three choices: tea by itself, paratha with regular potato soup, or an omelet with two small slices of bread. You had to pick just one each day. Some days, they might tell you the owner hadn’t sent enough supplies and you had to take something else. Just hell.

This was my first experience with oyoroom, and it was a bad one. They booked me for two days even though I needed only one, then said it couldn’t be canceled. There was no power backup, the room wasn’t clean, and it felt very unsafe for kids and women. They took our food order but didn’t bring the food, then asked for money, and they wouldn’t provide drinking water either. There was only a TV, and it had no program connection, which was ridiculous. They don’t provide food after taking an order, and they don’t let guests bring in outside food. What’s their intention?
