When my guest accidentally left a sheet behind, the hotel refused to confirm that he'd stayed there when we came to check. The service at Avenue Hotel was poor, the staff weren't helpful, and cleanliness was negligible. It didn't work for us. Anyone booking should confirm their reservation beforehand.

A good spot for a business trip to Kolkata, with pleasant service and a nice room atmosphere. The bedsheets weren't very clean, though, and the geyser had an issue. I passed along that feedback.

The bathroom was clean, but the room felt damp and smelled unpleasant, and the hotel didn't match its Google photos. We stayed two nights, and the experience was just average for the price. Only one receptionist seemed professional; room service was slow, and calls often went unanswered until we tried several times. When we asked for breakfast in the room on checkout day, the receptionist said she was in the washroom, which didn't feel professional. Our early checkout breakfast was only a sandwich and a small juice packet. Staff also missed basic courtesies like greeting guests, asking how the room was, or thanking us at checkout.

Booking.com made this place sound like a family hotel, but it felt like a poorly maintained lodge, with dirty beds and questionable guests. My kids couldn't stay even 30 minutes. The quilts still had stains when I returned at night, despite complaining and being promised they'd be fixed. Breakfast came from a street vendor, and the place seemed very unhygienic. This taught me a lesson: never again will I book anything below a branded hotel or 5 star in Kolkata.
