Hotel Great Western

We stayed here in September 2024 and had a lovely experience. Heartfelt thanks to Mr. Avijit Roy and the whole team for their excellent service and cooperation. We’ll choose this hotel again on our next visit to the City of Joy.

The location was right for a stay, and the room was clean and well organized. Staff behavior was quite good too. I had a very good experience.

The staff were very polite, and the location is fantastic, but the stay was definitely not worth what I paid. I booked for a month and paid 1 lakh in advance. There was no tea or coffee making setup, no toiletries, and only one small complimentary bottle of water. The rooms were very dirty, the linen was old, and the bathroom was dirty too. I ended up cleaning the room and bathroom myself. I chose the hotel after seeing the photos on Agoda, but the rooms looked nothing like them. The standard room I booked was so small and claustrophobic that I had to pay another Rs 1000 per night to upgrade to a larger room that was supposed to be their premium room. Since I’d paid in full, I couldn’t get a refund and move to a better hotel. I could have found something much better for the same price. I always use Booking.com and am a member. This was my first time using Agoda, and I won’t use it again. I definitely won’t stay here in the future.

What stands out at Great Western is the central location and courteous staff. It’s a boutique hotel with a limited number of rooms. There’s no lift, which could be difficult for people who don’t like stairs.
