Hotel New Tiger Inn

The location was perfect, and the atmosphere was quiet. The receptionist was friendly too, but the room itself was in poor shape. The tap, elevator, lights and plug points weren't working properly, and there was no drinking water in the room or provided by the hotel.

I was in Kolkata for a 10-day business trip and stayed at new tiger hotel. The water issue took five hours to fix, and when I asked for a blanket they gave me a bedsheet instead. Getting a bill was another problem: they refused at first, then after two days gave us a bill for a different hotel. A very bad experience.

The staff were pleasant, especially Rahul, and that helped make the stay feel good. The lift worked, while housekeeping was only average. The location on park Circus road is excellent, though during heavy monsoon rainwater comes into the low-floor lobby and pools there. There were no dustbins in the room or corridor. Some toilets had damaged flush pipes and dirty bathrooms, and the local exhaust fan mostly made noise. A few rooms had old-style AC, and even the newer split units barely cooled. The lobby is nicely done, but its low ceiling and floor got 3 stars from me.

It used to be good five years ago, but now the condition is very poor. The rooms seem not to have been maintained since 2012, and they're really dirty, including the sheets and pillow covers. The price is quite high for this. The intercom doesn't work, and there's only one housekeeping staff member.
