The restrooms need more maintenance. Guests should use basic civic sense and follow toilet etiquette, but staff also need to clean the facilities regularly through the day. Princeton Club is a decent venue, though the food needs work, especially the fish. The baking soda taste was overpowering in almost everything and affected the flavour. The menu didn’t feel cohesive, more like random dishes grouped together than a carefully planned spread. Menu choices may depend on whoever selects them, but the taste was still very average.

The staff and trainers impressed me most. They’re professional, knowledgeable and supportive, and always ready to help. The equipment is well maintained, and the hygiene standards make workouts feel safe and comfortable. At Princeton Club, Kolkata, the gym floor is spacious and has modern, international-standard machines for beginners and advanced users alike. The whole place is clean, premium and well cared for. It’s a great blend of luxury, fitness and professionalism, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality fitness experience in Kolkata.

I went to a birthday party there. The place and its amenities were good, but the catered food was tasteless. Despite serving chicken, mutton and fish, none of it had an authentic flavour. It seemed boiled and then covered in gravy. The price was high, too.

The rooms smelled strongly of mildew, and the smell clung to me and my clothes. There was only one ironing board for all the rooms, so expect to wait if you need it in the morning. They don’t clean rooms regularly unless you ask. At checkout on Sunday, I was owed around ₹750 after paying my bill. They said they couldn’t refund it because it was Sunday, they had no cash on site and full services weren’t available. Somehow they blamed me for checking out that day, which felt strange and unprofessional. The reception experience was frustrating. The lady there was difficult to deal with, dismissing simple requests or hanging up without acknowledging them. To be fair, another front office staff member was polite and helpful, so the service wasn’t all bad. This doesn’t feel like a proper hotel, more like a few spare rooms rented out, and the experience reflects that. The stay was disappointing because basic facilities were lacking and customer service was inconsistent. I think Merlin management needs to step in directly and put the staff through customer service coaching and training.
