The rooftop garden and the old lift were highlights for me. The building is more than a century old, and using its original entrance elevator, with an attendant operating it, felt like a treat. My room was clean and comfortable, and the price seemed fair. Management and staff both gave excellent service. I’d book directly with them since they have more choices than some booking sites. I’ve read negative reviews, but my own stay was five stars. The central Kolkata location felt safe, clean, and convenient for international travelers. Highly recommended.

After ten weeks on the road, we finally had a stay that felt like true hospitality. The guest house is easy to get to by metro from Howrah railway station, and the Indian Museum and Mother Theresa House are nearby. We liked the leafy rooftop terrace, and the two shared spaces were handy for breakfast, relaxing, or meeting other travelers, with sofas and desks. You can bring food from nearby stalls. Our room was airy, very clean, and roomy enough, with plenty of lamps to choose from. Check-in was quick, the laundry service was good, and our hotel boy seemed to know what we needed before we asked. A good place to recover after a stressful journey.

The building is historic, said to be nearly 200 years old, and the hotel was generally nice and clean. I paid 2400 rupees for an air-conditioned room. The problem was that one of the staff arranged a car for our city tour, and we later found out he had charged us about 1000 extra.

It felt like home in this roughly 200-year-old building, with a lift that’s about 100 years old. The rooftop garden was nice, and the rooms were clean, though small. Staff were well behaved and always ready to help. They provided food for my kids and did laundry for us. For a reasonable price, the facilities and support were really good.

Park St. is close by, and the location is great. The staff were so kind and always ready to help. This is definitely my place to stay in Kolkata!
