The property is beautiful, with a well-kept garden and spacious, comfortable rooms overlooking a fantastic view. The fully equipped games room is a nice extra for families and groups. Food was excellent, and even with a gas shortage they still managed to serve the full menu, which I appreciated. A very pleasant stay, would recommend.

Avoid this place. Our check-in was ridiculously delayed, and staff took no responsibility. Construction noise went on constantly, and the bedsheets were torn. Breakfast choices were extremely limited because of an LPG shortage, while paid food was somehow fully available, which felt like a way to push guests to spend more. The game room was neglected, with most equipment broken or unusable. The bicycles had no air in their tires, so cycling wasn’t an option either. Nothing seemed maintained, and the staff were shockingly rude and unhelpful, treating guests like a burden. It felt more like a badly run school than a retreat, with no sense of hospitality. This was hands down my worst stay in South India. The owner should consider shutting it down. Do not book.

We paid a premium mainly for vegetarian food and good hospitality, but neither met our expectations. The lunch menu had only three dishes and service was extremely slow. Breakfast was almost identical each day, and when we asked for hot parathas, they said the chef had gone out. Staff repeatedly cited LPG issues. Even our Jain food request led only to some non-Jain items being removed, with no proper alternatives. When we asked for extra fruit, fresh juice was taken off the menu. Food variety, service, and staff support all felt very limited. We stayed at Nahar Retreat and Spa, Kotagiri for three days, and were disappointed from check-in, when the receptionist said staffing was limited.

The hill view was good and the room was spacious, but the extra bed for three adults cost too much and felt like a rock. The manager was somewhat rude and uncooperative. Breakfast tasted good, though the choices were very limited. When I asked about sightseeing spots, I didn’t get useful information.
