Orange Pekoe

We arrived at 2 pm, two hours after check-in, and the rooms still weren’t ready. The first one we were given had houseflies everywhere and a broken sink tap. The hygiene and damaged fixtures were awful. This was my first Goibibo booking, and the worst hotel stay of my life, even at over 3k per night for a room in Kotagiri. Water wasn’t provided in the rooms either. I also got food poisoning, most likely from chicken at the Spice Inn restaurant in the hotel. I slept barely four hours and had loose motions, vomiting, and severe dehydration. The restaurant seemed to have possibly stale chicken or roti dough, and there were only one or two waiters for the whole place. The hotel was badly understaffed too, with just one person handling the rooms, and he couldn’t arrange even a basic auto to town. We had booked two rooms, but the second wasn’t assigned until around 6 pm, after they fixed an electricity problem. Not even a light was working. Around 5:40, they offered an upgrade, then took it back, saying the room had to go to someone else and we’d have to put up with no electricity. When they finally handed it over, they sprayed a lot of housefly repellent and used a pungent air freshener that made things much worse. The sheets were dirty, as if someone had peed on the bed. The TV was broken and had to be replaced. Hot water wasn’t available around the clock either, only for what I think was about five or six hours.
