Chakra Ayurvedic Resort

The rooms are roomy and nice, the resort looks good, and the staff were kind and did their best to help. It’s close to Hawa beach, though getting there by car can be tricky: the road from the main road is narrow, uphill and concrete, and Google Maps pointed us down the wrong roads a couple of times. Head to the hotel Leela auto stand, then turn right after about 50 mtrs onto the concrete road; the resort has space for perhaps 4-5 cars. The restaurant is limited to basic options, so eat out if you want something fancier or quicker. Apart from a couple of things to improve, things were good.

We had to switch hotels because the internet kept cutting out and we couldn't work online. We’d paid in advance, and the owner kept the money without refunding the amount we’d overpaid. The place was hard to reach up the hill, the pool water looked quite milky, breakfast was very poor, and the room was ordinary. We wouldn’t recommend staying here. Don’t pay in advance.

The Ayurvedic practitioners gave personalized treatments that left me feeling refreshed and balanced. Chakra Resort has a peaceful feel and warm hospitality, with comfortable amenities alongside its traditional treatments. It was a soothing retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation, and a place to care for mind, body, and soul.

Joe, who managed the place, shared useful tips about nearby spots, sometimes arranged things for us, and often helped with rides into downtown. Manu was very helpful when serving us too. We found the atmosphere homely, with personal service and a warm welcome. There were a few small hiccups, as you might expect at a holiday destination, but they were minor and sorted with a smile. A good choice for a relaxing break or a trip with family and friends, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Kovalam and nearby places.
